Get an Apple adapter for only $10

Apple posted this on their website:

Starting August 16, 2013, if you have concerns about any of your USB power adapters, you can drop them off at an Apple Retail Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider. We will ensure that these adapters are disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.

A great way to get an adapter for only $10

New features in iOS7 for iPhone, iPad and iPod

iOS7 is expected this fall.

Here is a list of the new features I can’t wait to try.

iMessage

  • You can now block specific contacts or numbers (good for spammers that are now sending text or calling your cell phone)
  • When using group messaging a person’s contact picture will appear in a small circle next to their chat bubbles (nice to have)
  • you can now “FaceTime Audio” or “Facetime video” (this is great new option.  I often video call my daughter to save her daytime minutes when she is in a wifi area.  This will make Skype obsolete for me)

Airdrop:

  • You will be able to airdrop without a wifi connection using peer to peer connection.  (this is a great new feature, I use Airdrop on my MacAir all the time)

Review: Eton portable bluetooth sound system with solar charger

I just purchased a Eton portable bluetooth sounds system with solar charger for use on the patio and boat.    We were using a CD radio that needed to be plugged into the house.  This mean you had to place it near the plug and when you unplugged it it lost your radio station.

When I seen the Eton solar powered speaker I though what a great idea.  We only want to use it on sunny days so this would be great.

Most vendors are moving to blue tooth for the interface instead of the docking plug so they can be used with all devices.

Inputs:  You can use the AUX plug or bluetooth.

Charging: Solar or with the included power charger.

What I like is that you can also use it as a power supply for your iPhone or other usb device.

Since there is no radio built into the unit it must has a music source.  I usually use my iPhone via bluetooth or my iPod watch plugged into the AUX port.

This is a great unit and has many uses beyond just a speaker since it can be used as a power source.

The only thing I would love to see is to have it automatically charge when there is enough sun.  Unless I am missing something it only charges when I turn it on, and the charging symbol lights up, and then turn it off again.  The I could just set it on the window till I want to use it knowing it would be fully charged.

Four and a half

4 1/2 out of 5 .  1/2 off for not automatically charging.
